I live at the foothills. Every morning as I drive my son to school I gaze up at the thick blankets of fog wrapping the mountains. They drape them like a soft, grey blanket. It’s peaceful and quite beautiful. I was so excited to have the opportunity to shoot there.
Dana and Ava met me at 7:00 in the morning, just as the sun broke the horizon. We sat in the parking lot of Iron Mountain and chatted a bit under the florescent lights, waiting for the sun to attempt to break through the backside of the mountain.
The dew was heavy on the greened up grass. The fog hung low and seemed to beg us to be quiet and present in the moment.
Dana talked to little Ava about the Easter Bunny. She looked for rabbits. She gave her mother long hugs and chatted in the meandering way of little girls.
It was a beautiful morning. And I am very pleased with the way these images turned out.
Today is Dana’s birthday and I am thrilled that I can give her this gift today.
Happy Birthday, my friend. For every candle on your cake, may you have that many reasons to smile.
